"Where there is true charity, God is present"...This ministry is an outreach to the impoverished and orphaned children of Kenya.  We exist to show them God's love by providing food, clothing, shelter and education.  We do this in a hands-on capacity by working on-site at the orphanages.  Thanks for visiting our website to see how you can help.

Current Projects

In this issue you will find information regarding our partnership with Nice View Junior Academy/Orphanage in Tala, Kenya.

We are working together with Gideon Malinda, founder of Nice View, and his wife Pauline to bring water, food, clothing, education and God's love to these precious children.  What an exciting vision God has brought to us to be a part of caring for children and orphans!  From the start there have been struggles, but that hasn't diminished the hope of Gideon and his wife.

Here are just a few examples of how your donations for Nice View are being used:

  • Bringing Water to The Premises - It takes 1/2 day to bring life sustaining water to the Academy by hand.  Piping water to the children ensures that they are getting adequate, fresh water to prevent disease and quench thirst.  This was a "first priority" and is currently being worked on.
  • Providing Ample Supply of High Quality Food - Gideon is committed to provide two meals a day for the children since these are the only two meals most of the kids eat.  He even asks his wife to forego her income (Gideon does not take any income from the Academy) to ensure that the children eat.  The food is corn mash and watered down vegetable soup.  While this is unacceptable, it is what the Academy can afford.  Your donations are assisting in bringing healthy, adequate food to these children.  At the end of each day they now know that they will eat tomorrow.
  • Enhance the Existing Structures - The existing structures were built by hand by Gideon.  The rooms are open to the elements and unsafe since they have no windows or doors and the roofs cave in often.  We are working with a local contractor to put in windows and doors to make the Academy safe and secure for educating and housing the orphans.
  • Used Book Drive - We are working with local communities to have local used book drives.  The children only have shared textbooks and no general literature books.  We have talked to teachers and by bringing these types of books to the children their education will be enhanced and their reading skills improved.  This is a cornerstone of education.
  • A Uniform for Each Child - The Kenya government requires that children wear a uniform to school.  At Nice View, parents and guardians can not afford a uniform and in many instances the uniform is the only piece of clothing these children have.  Your donations are ensuring that no children are being exempted from an education due to the lack of clothing.
  • Expand the Academy - We are beginning to lay the groundwork to expand the Academy to double the amout of orphans and handicapped children the Academy can care for (currently 150).  This is an ambitious project, but there are literally thousand of children waiting to be taken care of and educated.  We must be diligent in our effort to continue to bring more children into this type of environment where they will see the love of God in action, not just preached!
  • Bibles for the Children - Currently we are asking individuals to fund sending Bibles to the children.  Part of their education is Christian spiritual formation.  There are very few Bibles and for each child to have their own Bible would be a blessing.  Please contact us at info@SavedByGodsGrace.org if you have a group that would be willing to sponsor this endeavor.

Other Projects

We place information about other projects that support impoverished children on our website.  These projects have specific contact persons if any appear to be of interest to you.  We also have links to other non-profit organizations who support sponsorship of impoverished children.  If you are interested in sponsoring a child, please check out these organizations.

Also, we are currently pursuing a partnership with a single parents organization which would operate in the communities that Saved By God's Grace has volunteers.  This ministry aids the impoverished single parent in making ends meet when the bills outweigh the dollars.  Its focus is on education and supports the single parent in obtaining it so they can become self-sufficient and therefore care for their children.  We will update you on the progress of this partnership on the website and in the next newsletter.

PRAYER REQUESTS

  • For health, both physically and spiritually, of the children of Tala, Kenya
  • For continued renewal of spirit for Gideon and Pauline Malinda
  • For all the poor and orphaned children of the world, that God's love will be shown to them and hope will be restored
  • For our partners that God will bless them as they give of their abundance that He has given them
  • For this ministry that God will be the guiding light and we will follow faithfully as He calls

Please let us know of any prayer requests you may have and we can place them in our newsletter for our partners to lift up to God!

Financial Information

As you are well aware, we could not continue to pursue the call that God has placed upon us without your financial partnership.  We would like to let you know that no individual takes a salary from Saved By God's Grace and all donations go to assist impoverished children.  We pray that you will continually be pleased with how we are using your funds to glorify God by helping His children.  Please be in prayer on how you can continue to contribute to this ministry.  Currently, we have a partner that is matching all donations through Thanksgiving dollar for dollar up to $20,000.  We would appreciate any extra support you could give to allow us to double those contributions during this period.  If you wold like to contribute additional funds, please click here.

Thank you for responding so generously and for taking the time to read the newsletter.  We hope you enjoyed it.  We will continue to update you each month on what is happening with your ministry.  Please go to the website periodically for updates and more information concerning Saved By God's Grace.  If you would like additional information or would like to help us bring the cause of this ministry to others you know through brochure distribution or letter writing, please send an e-mail to me at cmcdonald@SavedByGodsGrace.org and I can assist you.

May we all "Bear one another's burdens and therefore fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2)
