"Where there is true charity, God is present"...This ministry is an outreach to the impoverished and orphaned children of Kenya.  We exist to show them God's love by providing food, clothing, shelter and education.  We do this in a hands-on capacity by working on-site at the orphanages.  Thanks for visiting our website to see how you can help.

Starvation Eminent in Kenya

My Friends,

I am sorry to say the faces you see above are not smiling at this time.  The country of Kenya is on the brink of starvation for about 10,000,000 of its citizens.  As of a couple of days ago the entire country has had to begin electrical rations due to lack of water (the country uses hydro-electric power).  To the children we have been given by God to care for the loss of electricity does not mean much as they do not rely on it at all.  What this action does confirm is the lack of water in Kenya is of catastrophic proportions.  We currently still have water at all three of the orphanages although the drought has made one of the bore holes (wells) produce dirty water which is being "settled" and boiled to make it usable (we have been warned this situation could change for the worst at any moment).  Our major problem for our kids is the lack of food.  Since December 2007 political upheaval and lack of rain have caused crops to fail.  This has resulted in a 13 million bag shortage of just the maize crop which is the staple food of our children.  This means that the staple food of Kenya is scheduled to run out in September of this year if there is no intervention.  Currently we can obtain food, but at prices which are sky-rocketing.  We are literally spending every dollar donated to purchase food for the kids and it still is not enough due to the price increases.

What we would like to do is purchase maize, beans and rice in enough quantity to last for the rest of 2009 (placed in the storage buildings which were built last year) so the orphanages could hold out until the next scheduled rains this October (please pray to our Lord for this mercy) and the subsequent harvest in January 2010.  What will it take to ensure our 372 children have at least the staples above to eat for the rest of the year?  It will take approximately $11,000USD...we need your help!

I know times in the US continue to be rough, but my brothers and sisters they are not even close to other parts of the world like Kenya.  I ask that you earnestly pray on how you could help to ensure the children we have been called to serve are not among the 10 million Kenyans who will face starvation.

If you would like to investigate this yourself, please simply Google "starvation in Kenya" and take a look at any of the recent articles which will confirm what I am telling you.  Our children continue to survive only by the Grace of God who moves His people to assist them.  Please be in prayer relative to this request and go to www.SavedByGodsGrace.org if you are led to help.

Thank you to all of you who have continued to be regular supporters of this ministry.  You have listened to the call of our Lord and the words of Scripture and have been faithful to "bear one another's burdens and thus fulfill the law of Christ".  If you too could prayerfully consider an extra contribution to assist during this crisis it would be appreciated.  May God bless you for your faithfulness.

Serving the children of Kenya with you only through His grace,

Chuck
